Abstract:
This study was conducted to clarify the zoonotic importance of helminths causing diarrhea in man. For this purpose, the following points were investigated:-I. Prevalence of some zoonotic helminths causing diarrhea in man.II. Prevalence of anisakid larvae in smoked herring and sand smelt fish.III. Molecular diagnosis of Hymenolepis diminuta in experimentally infected rats.IV. Effect of high hydrostatic pressure processing on viability of Hymenolepis diminuta eggs.EXPERIMENT (I)I. Prevalence of some zoonotic helminths causing diarrhea in man.A total number of 1256 stool samples (including diarrheic samples, 502 and non diarrheic ones, 754) were obtained from patients attending Al-Ahrar Hospital and Zagazig University Hospital, Zagazig city, Sharkia Province. Each stool sample was examined by The overall prevalence of helminth infection was 24.9 % and 27.3% in diarrheic and non diarrheic patients, respectively. The most common prevalent helminth among diarrheic patients was Hymenolepis nana (9.36%), while this dwarf tapeworm showed an infectio
