Abstract:
Ketoprofen is a member of NSAIDs, it is potent analgesic andanti-inflammatory which is used for the treatment of human andanimals, Ketoconazole is an antifungal has been used in seriousdermatophyte infections, cutaneous, and oral esophageal and vaginalcandida infection.Hundred and sixty albino rats were used to study the pathologicaleffects of ketoprofen and ketoconazole. They were equally dividedinto 7 groups: oral administration of 2.7 mg of ketoprofen (group 1),oral administration of 5.4 mg of ketoprofen (group 2), topicalapplication of ketoprofen (group 3), oral administration of 3.6 mg ofketoconazole (group 4), oral administration of 7.2 mg of ketoconazole (group 5), topical application ofketoconazole (group 6), group (7) wasa control group.The liver (ketoprofen) was congested and enlarged in size. In latestage it becomes pale in color. Congestion in the central vein andhepatic sinusoids with vacuolar degeneration of the hepatocytes withboth therapeutic and double therapeutic doses as well as after TAcould be detected. Focal areas of coagulative necrosis with therapeuticand double therapeutic doses were seen. Leukocytic infiltrationmainly lymphocytes and macrophage with proliferation of Kupffer’scell with both therapeutic and double therapeutic doses and followingTA were observed.
