Abstract:
Neutralizing bovine ephemeral fever antibodies with titers rangedfrom 2-8 were detected in 56.25%, 68.75%, 70.57%, 93.33%,88.880/0, 64.700/0 and 83.33% in cattle serum obtained from AI-Ibrahimia, Diarb Negm, Menia Elkamh, Kafer Saker, Fakous,Belbies and the Vet. Clinic, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine,Zagazig University, respectively with at a total of 75.21 % whileneutralizing BEF antibodies in buffaloes sera obtained fromdifferent localities of Sharkia governorate were 33.33%, 100%,1090/0, 100%, 50%, 80% and 100% in Ibrahimia, Diarb Negm,Menia Elkamh, Kafer Saker, Fakous, Belbies and the Vet. Clinic,Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Zagazig University, respectivelywith a total percent of 76.66%.2. BEF neutralizing antibodies were detected in 81.25% in malecattle and 67.92% in female cattle, 90.47% in male buffaloes and44.440/0 in female buffaloes.Regarding animal age BEF antibodies were detected in 86.95% inyoung cattle .and 58.33% in old cattle and 83.330/0 in youngbuffaloes and 72.22% in old buffaloes.4. Vaccination of, pregnant dams (cattle and buffaloes) with inactivated BEF vaccine was safe (didn’t induce abortion or anyclinical abnormalities) inducing good levels antibodies whichwere able to transmit to their off spring through the. colostrum.
