Abstract:
Bovine herpes virus type 1 (BHV-1) spread world wide and cause serious economic losses due to loss of animals in newly born calves, infertility, abortions, decreased milk production and loss of body weight in large cattle.In Present study, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) utilizing pair of primer, derived from the BHV-1 gB coding sequence, direct fluorescent antibody technique staining in MDBK cell culture and virus isolation were conducted for comparative detection of BHV-A total of 180 samples, including nasal & vaginal swabs and buffy coats were taken from cows and buffaloes with respiratory and genital disease using the routine methods of virus isolation and direct FAT and the results were compared with those obtained bBHV-1 was isolated from 24 samples out of 180 samples (13.33%) distributed as 19 (10.55%) and 5 (5.55%) of cows and buffaloes, respectively.
