Protective and therapeutic Effect of Curcuma Longa L. And Matricaria Recutital In The Management of Hepatotoxicity

Abstract:
Summary:-The present study aimed at screening the efficacy of curcuma longa L. (turmeric), Matricaria recutita L. (chamomile) and their ethanolic & aqueous extracts respectively on liver damage induced by paracetamol, compared with the silymarin as a settThis study was carried out on one hundred and thirty two rat weighing 100-150 gm, which were divided into 22 group of albino rats, in which two experiments: pretreatment paracetamol (11 group) and post-treatment paracetamol (11 group) were done. Our resulI- Pretreatment Paracetamol Experiment:Paracetamol was orally administrated daily for two successive weeks, at a dose of 2 gm/kg B. wt. followed by oral administration of curcuma longa (C. longa), Matricaria recutita (M. recutita) and their ethanolic and aqueous extracts at doses of 37.8 & 75.A- Biochemical findings :-On comparison with paracetamol control group, a significant improvement (P(0.05) in serum AST level was detected in the groups treated with curcuma longa extract, matricaria recutita and its extract
