Some Epidemiological Studies on Rift Valley Fever

Abstract:
ExperimentI Rift Valley fever This study was carried out to investigate occurrence of RVFV in man, animals, and to develop a recent R VFV antigen to be used for diagnosis of RVFV through ELISA .During this work a total of 177 serum samples were randomly cexamined for the presence ofRVFV-IgG • Out of 177 apparently healthy persons examined, 25 (14.12%) were positive <positive by SNT. The prevalence rate <of RVFV-IgG was found to be higher 19.350/0 (6 out of 31) in the agegroup ranging from 31-40 years followed by the age group 41-50 years(12.5%) then the age group 21-30 ye~rs (11.9%). The lowest percentage of8.5 was recorded in the age group 10-20 years. No RVFV-IgG was detectedin the age groups <10 years and ~50 years.
