Abstract:
Listeriosis is an infectious disease of man and animals. The clinical manifestations of Listeriosis in sheep included encephalitis, abortion and neonatal septicaemia.Nine Listeria monocytogenes isolates were recovered from 160 examined different samples (Brain tissues, placenta, foeti, silage, water and bedding) obtained from sheep with an over all incidence of 5.6%. Listeria monocytogenes is Gram positive organism grThe results antimicrobial susceptibility tests of isolated strains revealed complete susceptibility of all isolates to ampicillin, chloramphenicol, erythromycin, tetracycline and ceftiofur sodium. All strains were completely resistant to bacitracin, LincoThe effects of some physical and chemical agents on Listeria monocytogenes were studied. The physical agents used in this study were heat, freezing & thawing and U.V. rays. The chemical agents used were sodium chloride, sodium taurocholate, tween20 and gl
