Pathological studies on the aqdvres effects of some recent chemotherapeutic drugs in albino rats

Abstract:
One hundred and fourty male albino rats were equally divided into 7 groups (gps) to demonstrate the adverse effects of some chemotherapeutic agents (Doxorubicin and cisplatin) employing the clinical signs and pathological lesions. The Gp (1) was the contrThe albino rats in gp (2) which were injected with toxic dose of doxorubicin showed anorexia and diarrhea with soiled hair around the anal opening. All rats were died from 3-9 day (PI) 100%.The liver was congested and blood oozed from its cut surfaces. ThThe albino rats in gp (3) which was injected with toxic dose of cisplatin showed depression and anorexia besides nose and mouth bleeding. The mortality was 100%. The most significanct macroscopical lesion were congestion of all internal organs. MicroscopiThe albino rats in gp (4) which were injected with therapeutic dose of doxorubicin showed the same clinical signs of group 2 but mortality rate was 20% only. Macroscopically, the kidneys showed large tiny saccular cysts contained amber-colored fluid (30 dThe albino rats in group 5 which were injected with therapeutic dose of cisplatin showed depression, anorexia and diarrhea with soft black tarry feces.
