Abstract:
The present study was performed to investigate the clinicopathological changes (hematological, biochemical, acid base balance , blood gases and urinalysis) associated with pregnancytoxaemia in goats and a trial for treatment. Thirty late pregnant doesof 2-4 years age during the last 2-4 weeks of pregnancy wereclassified into three main groups :Group 1: Ten does kept as normal control: clinically healthy latepregnant does with good body condition and normal pregnancy all of them carried only one feotus.Group 2 : Ten lightly pregnancy toxemic does: late pregnant does naturally affected with pregnancy toxaemia most of them carried 2 or 3 foeti as confirmed by abdominal palpation. They were clinically characterized bywandered aimlessly without paying attention to the examiner, isolate itself in a corner, slight nasaldischarge ,weakness and off food.Group 3 : Ten Severely affected does were clinically characterizedby incoordination, sternal or lateral recumbency,grinding on teeth, partial to complete blindness, frothy salivation, ketone odor in the breath and urine then endwith coma.Blood and urine samples wereclinicopathological studies.The hemogram in the present study revealed highly significant decrease in red blood cell count , hemoglobincollected for
