Some Bacteriological and Mycoplasmological Studies on Respiratory tract infection in sheep and Goats

Abstract:
Sheep and goats are from the important agricultural animals in Egypt, mycoplasmal and bacterial pneumonia is regarded as the most frequent serious causes of morbidity, mortality and economic losses. Thus it is essential to identify the microorganism respoand to devise strategies to minimize their economic losses. In this study, a total of 324 animals were included from which there were 242 sheep and 82 goats. A total of 557 samples collected from nasal swabs, tracheal and lung samples of living animals anincluded 82 nasal swabs, 30 tracheal samples and 30 lung samples.from sheep: A total of 104 mycoplasma isolates (94 Mycoplasma spp.and 10 Acholeplasma spp.) were isolated with an incidence of (25.060/0) anda total of224 bacterial isolates were isolated with an incidence of (53.97 %). As for mixed infection, a total of 74 isolates were isolated with an incidence of(17.83 %). from goats: A total of 47 mycoplasma isolates (43 Mycoplasma spp. and 4 Acholeplasma
