Effect of stress factors on beef production in cattle

Abstract:
This study was carried out in private farms at Sharkia province and in the abattoir of Zagazig city.This work included three experiment:1- First experiment:Studied the effect of tethering on maintenance behaviours andperformance of yearling Friesian bull:The obtained results were:1- There was no a significant difference m eating and drinking timebetween tethered (204.53±5.16 min. and 117.45±5.38 sec. 112 hr) andloose group (192.08±6.02 nun. and 116.33±5.40 sec./12 hrrespectively).2- The tethered animal spent more time in idling, lying and ruminationthan loose one.3- There was no significant difference in frequencies of defecation,urination, kicking and self grooming between tethered (6.10±0.36,10.45±1.31, 10.20±1.08 and 11.15±0.85 boutl12 hr respectively) andloose animals (6.05±0.53, 9.18±0.47, 8.13±0.89 and 10.15±0.81 boutl12’hr respectively).4- There was a significant difference (P:S0.05) in frequencies of heading,butting, mutual grooming between tethered (0.21±0.22, 0.0 and6.23±0.87 bout/12 hr respectively) and loose group (0.84±0.10,4.00±6.40 and 3.92±0.47 boutll2 hr respectively).
