Abstract:
Ninety six Nile catfish were divided into 4 duplicated groups tostudy the clinical signs and pathological lesions due to feeding on diet contaminated with different level of AFB]. Group 1 fed on dietcontained 2.0 mg AFB j/kg diet, group 2 fed on diet contained 4.0 mg AFB]/kg diet, group 3 fed on diet contained 8.0 mg AFB/kg diet and group 4 kept as control and received a diet without contamination ..The clinical signs varied according to the level of AFB] in diet and the period of feeding (6 weeks r 12 weeks). The clinical signs varied according to dose and duration of administration. Loss of escape reflex and appetite and presence of mucus all over gills and fins, with severe erosion in fins were the common clinical signs. The mortalities were 8.3~’O, 20.8% and 37.5 % in groups 1,2 and 3 respectively. The gross lesions represented by accumulation of fluidinside body cavity, congested gills and covered with mucus. All viscera were congested especially liver, kidneys, dark coloured spleen, stomach and intestine. In fish group received high dose of AFB] in diet for long period the aforementioned gross lesions were severe beside presence of erosion with slimy materials covered it.The histopathological lesions were represented by degenerativechanges or coagulative necrosis, congestion, hernorrhages, periductular fibrosis with proliferative changes in bile duct epithelium
