Abstract:
Clostridia constitute part of the normal intestinal flora and somemay be represented as endospores, if activated may produce disease.Clostridial diseases are of considerable importance to theEgyptian poultry industry. These diseases cause severe economiclosses among poultry in Egypt and it was suggested that the worldorganizations should make some effort to overcome these disease andarrangement for the control.Therefore, the present study was undertaken to through light onthe following:1- Determining the incidence of different clostridia speciesrecovered from diseased chickens with necrotic enteritis farms obtained from El-Sharkia governorate.2- Trial to isolate C. perfringens from diseased chickens with necrotic enteritis samples.3- Pathogenicicty test of the toxigenic stains of C. perfringens recovered from different types of chickens.4- Serotyping of the toxigenic types of C. perfringens recovered . from chicken samples.5- Susceptibility of the most prevalent toxigenic C. perfringens and other clostridia species of chickens to somechemotherapeutic agents.
