Prevalence and Significance of Yeast in Raw Edible Offal

Abstract:
A total 75 raw edible offal samples represented by liver, lung, rumen, intestine and head muscle (5 from each) were randomly collected from each of cattle, sheep and calves offal marketed at Mansoura and Bilqas markets and from butchers shop.Such samples were examined for determination of total yeast count isolation and identification of existing yeast genera and species.On the other hand, 20 raw samples of cattle offal represented by rumen and intestine were used to improve the sanitary status using to improve the sanitary status using natamycin (0.1% solution), potassium sorbate (2.5% solution) and a mixture of them by The result declared that the mean value of total yeast count in the examined liver, lung, rumen, intestine and head muscle of cattle was 3.0 x 104  1.0 x 104; 2.3 x 104  1.4 x 104; 4.9 x 104  1.9 x 104; 7.7 x 104  1.7 x 104 and 4.3 x 104  1.9 x 104/gvaccine. Specific CAV-1antibodies were monitored in 10 puppies (vaccinated with the live attenuated vaccine) weekly up to 3 weeks post vaccination then up to 4 weeks post challenge and the same thing wasdone with 10 puppies vaccinated with the inactivated vaccine.
