Abstract:
Diarrhoea is considered as a complex syndrome of major enteric diseases of calves. Different types ofC.perfringens play a serous role in calves diarrhoea through proliferation in the intestine and production of several exotoxins as alpha, beta, epsilon anTherefore, the aim of the work is to assess the value of usmgbiotechnology in rapid detection of C. perfringens toxins, evaluate the roleof C.perfringens enterotoxin in calf diarrhoea and to determine theincidence of C.perfringens in diarrhoeic calves in relation to different seasons, ages and Govemorates. A total of 175 collected faecal samples from diarrhoeic calves were included in this study and identified according to different seasons (48, 43, 31 anIncidence of C. perfringens recovered from diarrhoeic calves in summerwas 43.75% (21 out of 48), in autumn was 69.77% (30 out of 43), in winterwas 83.87% (26 out of31) and in spring was 39.62 (21 out 0[53).
