Abstract:
Salmonellosis is primarily a zoonotic disease and intervention is possible at any stage from farm to human . As it is well known, Salmonella has a wide range of host food animals .Salmonella infections in sheep have been recorded in most countries of the world. Diarrhoea of sheep and abortion in ewes is the main cause of economic losses through poor growth and mortality.Therefore the aim of this work was planned to discuss the isolation and identification of the causative agent. Studying pathogenicity of isolated Salmonella strains. Use of recent techniques as ELISA and SDS-PAGE for detection of Salmonella isolates, and A total of 865 samples from sheep were examined bacteriologically for Salmonella (250 apparently healthy sheep, 150 diarrhoiec sheep,45 aborted ewes and 70 slaughtered sheep). 24 out of 250 faecal samples(9.6%) from apparently healthy and diseased sheep w
