Abstract:
Subclinical ketosis is a preclinical stage of ketosis. It occurs in early lactation especially in cows with the highest milk yield and results from rapid adipose lipolysis as a result of negative energy balance (energy requirement exceeds energy intake). This work was planed to study the prevalence of subclinical ketosis in dairy farms; determine the normal changeable pattern of daily milk yield; milk fat %; blood glucose; ketone bodies in serum; urine and milk; non-esterified fatty acid (NEFA); Alanine aSerum; plasma; milk and urine samples were collected from 615 surveyrd cows as well as from post-treated cows that were examined by BHB and ketone strip and Rothera’s tests for detection of subclinical ketosis.
