Some Studies On Reproduction In She-Camel Camelus - Dromedarius

Abstract:
The present work was conducted on 270 one-humped she- camels (170 non-pregnant and 100 pregnant). The age of animals ranged from 1-15 years. The animals slaughtered at Bilbies abattoir were investigated during course of two years. from August, 2002 until During breeding and non-breeding season, they were inspected for general health condition before slaughter and immediately after wards. The genital organs were collected and taken for inspection and examination. The records were made for the main macroscoResults of this study showed:I. Morphological anatomy of genitial organs of non pregnant she- camel:1. Ovary :The prepuberty ovary is round in shape and smooth without structures. While after bred she-camel the ovary appeared a reddish, flattened, lobulated. The ovarian structures which is present are follicles and corpora lutea in different stages of development2. Fallopian tube:The uterine tubes are short and tortuous. Their length ranges from 14.5 to 22.7 cm. They start with a wide abdominal end located close to the medial opening of the ovarian bursa. Each tube opens into the uterine horn with prominate papille.3. Uterus:The uterus of she-camel is bicornuate, the uterine horns gives a “Y” or a “ T” shape depending on the reproductive history of the animal. The left horn is always longer and wider. The endometrial flods of the uterus is smooth and showing no carnuncle.4. Cervix :The cervical canal presents longitudinal flods which extend on annular muscular projections and form the cervical rings.
