Abstract:
This study was planned to investigate the effect of EPA given bygavage method to Wistar rats tor 6 weeks on some physiologicalparameters in comparison with prednisolone effect.The present study was carried out at Department of Structuralpathology, Institute of Nephrology, School of Medical and Dental Science,Niiguta University, Japan ill coopcrution with Physiology Department,Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Zagazig University, Egypt at winter 2007.In the current study eighteen male Wistar rats weighed L 70-190 gand aged 6 weeks were used. These animals were acclimated for 2 weeksbefore starting the experiment according to the guidelines of the Committeeon Care and Use of Experimental Animal Resources Branch, Ccntcr forBiorcsourcc- Bused Rcxcnrchcx, IIrnin Research lnsl itulc, School orMedical and Dental Science, Niigata University, Japan.The rats were divided equally into three groups, each one have 6animals as described:Group A received daily by gavage EPA ethyl ester at a daily dose of 0.4g/kg body weight for 6 weeks.Group B received daily by gavage prednisolone at a daily dose 2 mg/kgbody weight.Group C received daily by gavage Arabic gum 5 % as a control group.
