Clinicopathological studies on greenish diarrhea in chickens

Abstract:
The present study was performed to investigate the clinicopathologicalchanges associated with’ greenish diarrhea in chickens. One hundred one day old Hubbard chicks were used for this experiment. They divided into five equal groups.The first gp. kept as normal control, gp. (2) infected orally withSalmonellagallinarum 0.5 mllbird (2.4xI08 viable organism/ml) using stomach tube at 28 days old, gp. (3) infected IIM with VVNDV 0.2 mllbird(106EIDso/ml) at 28 days old, gp. (4) treated orally with lead acetate 40 mg/kg ration from the ih day till the end of the experiment while gp. (5) kept under temporary starvation (by fasting with providing sufficient water and limited amout of food to methe same time (32, 39 and 46 days old) for hematological andc1inicobiochemical studies. Tissue specimen from liver, kidneys and intestinefrom all gps. were examined macroscopically and microscopically.Chicks of all treated gps. showed greenish diarrhea at 32 days oldpersisted 6 days in gp. (2), 7 days in gp. (3) and along the experimental periodin gps. (4 and 5).The erythrogram showed macrocytic normochromic anemia in all gps.(with the appearance of greenish diarrhea) at 32 days old and the decrease inRBCs, Hb and PCV were ’obvious in gps. (2 and 3) than other gps. Thehemolytic anemia persisted in gps. (2 and 3) till the day 39 then disappeared butin gps. (4 and 5) till the end of the experiment leading to hyperbiliverdenemia,biliverdinurig and greenish diarrhea. The blood films showed poikilocytosis andanisocytosis in gps. (4 and 5).
