Abstract:
This study was conducted in Faculty of Veterinary Medicine,Moshtohor, Zagazig University, Benha branch. The objects of this studywere to evaluate the tomato waste as a feed stuff for Tilapia nilotica andMirror carp and determine the effect of the experimental diet containingdifferent percentages of tomato waste as feed ingredient in replacement ofsoybean meal or cotton seed meal on the fish performance.Sixteen experimental diets were formulated contained differentlevels of tomato waste as a partial replacement of soybean meal or cottonseed meal through two experiments:Experiment I:One hundred and thirty five of apparently healthy Tilapia niloticaaveraged 0.9 gm were used in this experiment and allotted into ninegroups, 15 fish per group. Each group of fish was fed on special diet asfollows:Group (1): Fed on a diet containing 22.5% soybean meal and used ascontrol group.Group (2): Fed on a diet containing 22.5% cotton seed meal and used ascontrol group.Group (3): Fed on a diet No. 3 which contained 22.5% tomato wastemeal (100% replacement of both soybean and cotton seedmeats).Group (4): Fed on a diet No. 4 which contained 20% tomato waste mealplus 2.5% soybean meal (88.8% of tomato waste meal as apartial replacement of soybean meal).
