Abstract:
The effect of different ages and sexes on the activity of certainenzymes and some mineral concentrations in balady sheep erythrocyteswere investigated. This study was carried out on 63 balady sheep of bothsexes. The animals were classified according to their sex into two maingroups, each one was furtherly divided according to their ages into foursubgroups : Group I : Comprised 38 male balady sheep, furtherly subdivide into four subgroups as follows:Subgroup (lA) : Consisted of I I male sheep of six months old.Subgroup (IB) : Included 11 male sheep of 12 months old.Subgroup (lC) : Contained 10 male sheep of 18 months old.Subgroup (ID): Comprised 6 male sheep of24 months old.Group 11:Consisted of 25 female balady sheep, furtherly subdivided intofour subgroups:Subgroup (IIA): Comprised 6 female sheep of six months old.Subgroup (lIB): Contained 6 female sheep of 12 months old.Subgroup (IIC): Consisted of 6 female sheep of 18 months old.Subgroup (11 D): Included 7 female sheep of 24 months old.Two blood samples were collected from each animal of eachsubgroup. The first one was collected in heparinized syringe and processeddirectly for the determination of erythrocyte enzyme activities as, glucose-6- phosphate dehydrogenase, pyruvate kinase lactate dehydrogenase and
