Abstract:
This study compares the possible deleterious effects of both ciprofloxacin and gatifloxacin on pregnant rats and developing foeti during both the gestation and suckling periods.I - Effects on dams and developing foeti:-Administration of drugs for 5 consecutive days to pregnant dams during foetal period provoked a decrease in the placental weight & body weight gain on the 20th day of pregnancy. There was a decrease in viable foeti, foetal body weight and length with incrII- Effects on mortality and growth rates of neonates during suckling period:-Administertion of the drugs to lactated dams for 5 consecutive days from 1st day postnatal evoked decrease in body weight and growth rate of neon
