Abstract:
The present study investigated the effect of two chemical stressors (Nitrate, cyanide) on growth, health and immunological function of Cyprinus carpio and Oreochromis niloticus respectively. Also investigated the effect of two feed additives (L-Carnitine 1.Toxicity of Nitrate on Cyprinus carpio1.1 Acute toxicity of Nitrate on Cyprinus carpioMortality rate of Cyprinus carpio which exposed to different doses of sodium Nitrate (0, 20, 30, 50, 60, 80, 90 and 100%) et concentrations 600, 700, 800, 900, 1100, 1300, 1400 and 1500 mg/l sodium Nitrate respectively. The 96hrs LC50 of sodium Nitrate in*Clinical signs: Abnormal swimming, not respond to escape reflex, some show signs of respiratory manifestation.*Post mortem lesions: Congestion of internal organs.*Some blood parameters: Blood samples collected after 96 hrs from experiment showed increase in WBCs, ALT, creatinin and cortisol and decrease in PCV, Hb, RBCs.Histo pathological findings:Liver showed numerous eosinophilic granular cells in hepato portal area and gills showed necrosis and disappearance of their epithelium*Effect on humoral immunity: Significant decrease in gamma globulin.1.2 Chronic Toxicity of NitrateClinical signs fish was inactive and respond weakly to tested reflexes.*Post mortem lesion: slight congestion.
