Abstract:
Ninety male albino rats weighing about (180- 200 g) were used, the animals were obtained from faculty of veterinary medicine, ZagazigUniversity (laboratory animal’s housing unit). The animals wereclinically healthy, kept under hygienic condition, housed in metal cageswith hard wood shavings as bedding, were randomly distributed into fivegroups each of 18. The first group fed on feed additives free ration C(control group). The second and the third fed on ration containing 1 %and 2% Ti02 (sub groups Tl and T2). The fourth and fifth fed on rationcontaining 0.5% and 1 % BHT (sub groups B 1 and B2).The present study was carried out to evaluate the toxic effects ofTi02 and BHT food additives on body weights, assessing of haemostasis, male fertility, genotoxicity, some biochemical parameters, nucleic acidcontents and histopathological examination of different organs.1- Effects on body weights :-Both Ti02 and BHT was administered in diets of male rats at 1 %,and 2% for Ti02 and 0.5%, and 1 % for BHT for 30,65 and 90 days andweights obtained weekly, from the results, it was revealed that Ti02 andBHT resulted in a significant decrease in body weight gain at differentdose levels and durations significantly than the control animals.BHT 0,5% and 1 % caused a non significant increase in the liverweight at 30 days and a significant increase in liver weights at 65 and 90days if compared with that of the control.2- Effect on blood haemostasis:-The present study revealed that BHT feeding indiet at 0.5% and 1 %of male rats for 30, 65 and 90 days resulted in non significant change in
