Bacteriological Studies on Enteric Bacteria isolated from ostrich

Abstract:
A total of 185 samples were collected from 93 birds fromdifferent ostrich farms at Sharkia, Ismailia and Alexandria province,Egypt, including 46 cloacal swabs and 96 each of lung and liver,samples. E. coli was isolated by percentage of 42, 29 and 200/0 fromIsmailia, Alexandria and Sharkia provinces respectively with a totalincidence of 54.60/0. Meanwhile, Salmonellas were isolated by apercentage of 1.4% from Ismailia province while it was failed to bedetected in Alexandria and Sharkia provinces. Overall incidence of other members of Entrobactericeae andPseudomonas species were isolated with a frequency ranged from 0.0to 15.20/0. Regarding the serotyped E. coli strains in relation to a total of 31E. coli isolates. It was found that 055, 078, 0125, 0127 and untypablewere identified with the percentage of 32.3, 22.6, 3.2, 16.1, 25.8,respectively. While Salmonella isolates in total of 3 isolates and theobtained results were 2 isolates belonged to Salmonella typhimurium,
