Abstract:
Bovine mastitis is considered of quite vital importance due to itsassociation with many zoonotic diseases in which the milk acts as avehicle of infection. Mastitis is globally recognized as one of the majordiseases of economic significance confronting the dairy industry. Thesubclinical mastitis form is responsible for major losses includingdecrease of milk yield reduce milk quality and increase the cullingpercent from the herd.In the present study sixty apparently normal dairy cows and fortyapparently normal dairy buffaloes were examined by California mastitistest for detection of subclinical mastitis at Sharkia governorate.Twenty of the negative animals were considered as normal controlanimals, ten cows and ten buffaloes. The positive collected samples (96cow’s samples and 72 buffaloe s samples) were sent to laboratory forfurther examination such as chlorine test, Modified white side test(MWT) and direct microscopic somatic cell count (SCC).Theseinvestigation for segregations the mastitic milk samples from healthyones and detection of the prevalence of subclinical mastitis among theexamined animals.The chlorine test:-It was giving (68.75%) were negative (-ve ), 12 quarters (5%)were trace, 46 quarters (19.17 %) were positive (+ve), 16 quarters (6.66%) were (++ve) and one quarter (0.42%) was (+++ve). In buffaloes 98quarters (61.25%) were negative (-ve), 8 quarters (5%) were tracepositive ( +ve), 30 quarters (18.75%) were (+ve), 20 quarters (12.5%)were (++ve) and 4 quarters (2.5%) were (+++ve).
