Abstract:
One hundred and twenty-one day old Hubbard chicks were used tostudy the protective and side seffects of some antimycotoxins. These chicks were divided into 6 equal groups (gps. 1-6). Gp. (1) was kept as untreated control. Gp. (2) was fed on a diet containaddition to 0.5% Nutritox. The chicks of groups (5 & 6) were fed on adiet containing 0.5% HSCAS and 0.5% Nutritox respectively. The clinical signs, in the experimentally intoxicated chicks with aflatoxin (group 2) at zo” day of experiment were emaciation, ruffled feathers, decreased body weight gain, diarrhea and lameness.healthy. No clinical signs were observed among the chicks in groups (5 & 6). The macroscopical lesions in chicks of group (2) on the 20th day ofexperiment showed a slightly enlarged dark liver. The kidneys wereslightly congested in few cases. The bursa of Fabricius and the thymuswere slightly atrophied. The mucosa of both the proventriculus and smallintestine was congested.Meanwhile, the birds which were sacrificied on the 40lh days PTshow~d pale, firm liver together with irregular hemorrhagic areas.The kidneys were congested, few petechial hemorrhages werenoticed under the renal capsule. The heart showed hyDROPericardium.
