Abstract:
Environmental pollution with heavy metals became apparent during thelast decades. Metal in soil and water may enter the food chain through thebiological cycle which includes biocencentration by plants and animals. The presence of such metals in a significant levels in the environment is considered a potential health hazard to human and animals. Moreover, they have a tendency to accumulate in tissues and organs of animals including rabbits. There fore, the main aim of the present this is to investigate the toxic effects of copper and zinc in rabbits. An experiment mode was chosen to study these •effects 36 male rabbits were used in this study. The animals were divided into two main groups (group A) one group forcopper sulphate administration and (group B) for zinc sulphate administration. Each main group divid into 3 .sub groups each sub group contain 6 rabbitsGroup A:Group I: The first group was kept as a control for experiment and give tapwater only.Group 11: The second group was administered copper sulphate orally in a dose of 15 mg / kg b.w. 3 times / week. Group Ill: The third group was administered copper sulphate orally in a dose of 30 mg / kg b.w. 3 times / weekGroup B:Group I: The first group was kept as a control for experiment and give tapwater only.Group 11: The second group was administered zinc sulphate orally in a dose of 45 mg / kg b.w. 3 times I week.
