Abstract:
Due to the increasing importance of cows and buffaloes asproduction units, the present study is an attempt to throw lighton the important bacteria and fungi inhabiting the Uro-genital tract, in health and diseased conditions. Efforts weredirected toward the possible existence of a relationship betweenthe two systems, which might play a role in soundness of theseimportant organs .Within the present study, cows and buffaloes underinvestigation were classified into four groups :- Group I : Animals with apparently healthy Uro-genital system(20 cows and 20 buffaloes) .- Group Il : Animals with diseased urinary system but withapparently healthy genital organs (15cows and 15 buffaloes) .- Group III : Animals with apparently healthy urinary system butwith diseased genital organs (25 cows and 30 buffaloes) .- Group IV :Animals with diseased Uro-genital organs (13 cowsand 14 buffaloes) .Samples were collected from the urinary system(urine samples and from the urinary bladder) and genital organs(vaginal discharges, cervical swabs and from the uterus) of thesame animals and subjected to bacteriological and mycologicalexamination .Group I :- The bacteriological examination revealed that the mostcommon bacteria were C. renale (33.33%), Strept. faecalis,Cit. fraundii and Klebsiella (22.22% each) for urinary samples. While Strept. faecalis and E. coli (23.33 % each ), Staph.epidermidis (16.66%), Enterobacter, Proteus vulgaris, Klebsiella(10% each) for genital samples.- The mycological examination revealed that C. albicans (2.50/0)was the only fungal isolate from the urinary system of cows
