Abstract:
Rabbits represent a good source of animal protein of highnutritional value in Egypt. Bacterial or fungal infections representa very common medical problem affecting rabbit breeding inKalyobia govemorate . This study aimed to isolation of thecommon pathogenic bacterial and fungal species and throwinglight on simple and recent diagnostic and therapeutic regimens.A total number of 360 ( 120 apparently healthy and 240diseased or recently’ dead) were collected from 5 different rabbitfarms at Kalyobia governorate . The used rabbits were of differentgroups , different sex and breeds. Samples were taken from thelungs , liver , spleen and intestine of each rabbit under asepticconditions and subjected to fungal and bacteriological studies.E. coli represents the most common isolates from the healthygroup ( 174 out of 334 isolates ). Other bacterial species wererecovered from’ the healthy group including Streptococcusfaecalis( 52 . isolates ) , Pneumococci ( 24 isolates) ,Pseudomonas aeruginosa ( 30 isolates ) and Klebsiella ( 51isolates) .A total of 214 fungal isolates were recovered’ from thehealthy group , including Aspergillus fumigatus ( 80 isolates) ,Mucor (64 isolates) and Penicillim ( 70 isolates) .
