Abstract:
The possible role of animals in the trasmission of scabiosis to manhas been investigated to assess the public health importance of thiszoonosis,2- Microscopic examination of skin scrapings obtained from 3476animals was carried out (1020 dogs, 50 cats, 975 rabbits, 600equines, 200 buffaloes, 80 cattle and 551 sheep).3- A total of 694 persons were subjected to skin examination, including565 males and 129 female, divided into 3 groups; school children,adult male and female outpatients presented to Dermatologydepartment in Kalyobia Hospital, and a high risk group of farmers.4- The prevalence rate of scabiosis in the examined animals amountedto:* 29.5% in buffaloes* 24. % in rabbits* 2.7% in sheep* 2.5 % in dogs.5- Sarcoptic mites failed detection in the samples obtained from cats,equines and cattle .. 6- The seasonal prevalence of scabiosis was studied in the affectedanimals.a) There was no pronounced seasonal prevalence of the .disease in dogs
