Abstract:
The present study was carried out on 140 adult albino rats fordemonstration of both clinicopathological changes and associatedpathological lesions in acute and chronic toxicities of PVC. These ratswere divided into three main groups. Group I consists of 60 rats whichorally administrated an equivalent volume of olive oil for three monthsand served as control (control group). The 2nd group consists of 20 ratswhich orally administrated 1/5 LDso of PVC dissolved in 100ml oliveoil, for one month (acute toxicity). The 3@ group consists of 60 ratswhich orally administrated 1110 LDso of PVC dissolved in 100ml olive, oil for 3 months (chronic toxicity). All rats were administrated thesedose twice/week after one week from the beginning of experiment. Afterone week P.A, 3 rats from the three groups were sacrificed and subjectedfor carfull P.M. examination. Blood and serum samples as well as tissuespecimens from different body organs were collected from eachsacrificed rats.Clinicopathological study:1- Acute toxicity:The haematological studies of the blood of rats received 1/5 LDsorevealed leukopenia with significant decrease in both erythrocytic cellcount and haemoglobin concentration during the first 3 week P.A.Moreovere the serum biochemical analysis, showed significant increasein the levels of serum ALP, AST, ALT as well as serum urea andcreatinine among rats administreted 1/5 LDso during the first three weeksP.A.
