Abstract:
The aim of the present study was to produce and evaluate twoattenuated rinderpest vaccines as well as an inactivated one. Theresults obtained showed that the two attenuated rinderpest vaccineswere sterile, potent, safe and immunogenic. The sole differencebetween them was a virus titre of one 10gJO higher with the Vero-vaccme than with BK-vaccine. Criterria of quality evaluationfollowed were those given by international organizations. Theinactivated rinderpest vaccine was produced using Binaryethylenelamine (0.004 M) as an inactivating agent and therehydragel (AIOH3) as an adjuvant. The inactivated vaccine wasproven to be sterile, potent, safe and immunogenic. It was revealedthat the level of serum rinderpest neutralizing antibody titre invaccinated cattle was found to be approximately sustainalble withthe use of attenuated rinderpest vaccines; whereas it was found to bediminishing gradually with the inactivated vaccine through a periodof 24 weeks study post vaccination. Protein Profile of bothattenuated and inactivated rinderpest virus revealed significantdifferences between them.
