Abstract:
Summary:-A total of 160 freshly caught marine fish samples; representing ofsardine (Sardinella madevensis), saurus (Saurida undosquamisy, pargus(Pagellus acame) and mullus (Mullus barbatus) (40 of each) werecollected from Giza Govemorate and examined bacteriologically todetermine total aerobic plate count at 7 °C (psychrotrophic count),Aeromonas species count, Pseudomonas spp. count, psychrotrophicEnterobacteriaceae count and Vibrio parahaemolyticus count as well asidentification of Aeromonas hyDROPhila , Pseudomonas aeruginosa andidentification of Enterobacteriaceae isolates. The bacterial examination were done for swab and muscle samplesof fish (20 of each). The averages counts of psychrotrophic, Aeromonas, Pseudomonas, psychrotrophic Enterobacteriaceae and Vibrio parahaemolyticus in swabsamples of sardine were 9.2x103 ± 1.9x103, 1.4xl03 ± 7.6xI02, 1.2x10-t ±6.7xI03, 1.5xl03 ± 1.8xl02 and 3.9x102 ± 1.1xl02 organisms /cm”, whilethe average in muscle samples were 7xl03 ± 1.6xl03, 9.5x102 ± 3.2xl02,8.6xl03 ± 2x102, 1.3xl03 ± 1.6xl02 and 2xl02 ± 8.1xlO organisms /g.In Saurus, the average counts of psychrotrophic, Aeromonas,Pseudomonas, psychrotrophic Enterobacteriaceae and Vibrioparahaemolyticus in swab samples of sardine were 8.2x103 ± 1.9xl03,1.3xl03 ± 6.7xI02, 9.7x103 ± 5.lx102, 1.3xl03 ± 1.7xl02 and 3.lx102 ±9.3xlO organisms /cm”. And the mean values in muscle samples were
