Abstract:
Camels are considered as one of the sources of meat and milk specially for peoples in the dry and arid zones of Asia and Africa. This fact increased the demands for studying the pathogenic organisms infecting camels such as mycoplasmas. Most mycoplasma are facultative pathogens giving a disease condition when their hosts succumed to stress factors or when their body resistance is iThe present investigation was carried out of 2000 samples collected from apparently healthy camels in some DeltaGovernorates. Two hundred• eleven Mycoplasma and Acholeplasma were isolated in percentages of (8.95%) and (1.6%) from examined samples respectively. Out of 179 positive isolates of mycoplasmawere (5.59%), (19.55%), (44.13%) and (30.73) from ocular system(conjunctiva), respiratory system, digestive system and maleurogenital system respectively.Mycoplasma arginini, untyped mycoplasma, Mycoplasma bovirhinis, Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. mycoides and Mycoplasma conjuctivae were isolated in percentages of (35.750/0), (27.37%)(23.46), (10.61) and (2.790/0) respectively.Thirty two Acholeplasma (1.6%) were isolated in percentages of (3.12%), 19 (59.38%) and 12 (37.50%) from respiratory system, digestive system and urogenital system respectively. Acholeplasma laidlawii and Acholeplasma modicum were isolated in percentages(78.13%) and (21.87%) respectively.
