Abstract:
Escherichia coli (E.coli) affect poultry industry causing major economic losses achieved by high morbidity and mortality, loss of body weight and low egg production .The control of this microbe are important for poultry industry and depend primarily on thApramycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic, which is used in the treatment of E.coli septicemia in poultry, bacterial enteritis in pig, salmonellosis in calves and colibacillosis in lamb. It is also administered to rabbits.The present investigation challenges the in vitro sensitivity of the isolated E.coli strain of avian origin to different antimicrobial agents.A special attention on the in vitro and in vivo activity of therapeutic and double doses of apramycin ;40 and 80 mg/kg b.wt.given in drinking water daily for 5 successive days against experimental E.coli infection in chickens and healthy chicks.
