Abstract:
Today aquaculture is considered an important source of proteinfor meeting the world’s increasing demand for protein. Fish is animportant source of animal protein for human consumption and theirgrowth rates affected by many factors mainly feed quality and itsprice.Carbohydrates arc of highest calories value and low cost feeds,,and the addition of high percentage of carbohydrates in dietsdecrease the cost of fish feeds.The present study was carried out in 3 experiments at FishResearch Center, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, ZagazigUniversity, to investigate the:I) Optimal dietary carbohydrates as corn starch (raw or cooked)required and its effect on growth performance, body composition,blood parameters and nutrient digestibility of African Catfish.2) Partial or complete replacement of yellow corn by wheatpaste by-product as a carbohydrate source and its effect on growthperformance, some blood parameters and nutrient digestibility ofA frican catfish.3) Influence of optimum source and percentage of differentcarbohydrates (maltodextrine, sucrose, corn starch) with different
