Experimental pathologic studies on some antituberculous drugs in albino Rats

Abstract:
One hundred and fifty albino rats of both sexes, 60 days old were used in this work, and were divided into four groups. The first, second and third groups (experimental groups) each consisted of 45 albino rats. The fourth group (control group) consisted opyrazinamide ”orally by stomach tube” and streptomycin ”I/M injection” daily for two months followed by therapeutic dose from isoniazid with ethambutol ”orally by stomach tube” for the remaining four months}. Each rat in group 2 was given regimen Il{therapeutic doses from regimen I and therapeutic dose from vitamins A, E and 86 orally for six months}. Each rat in group 3 was given regimen HI {therapeutic doses from combination containing rifampicin, isoniazid, pyrazinamide and ethambutol ”orally bystomach tube” daily for two months, then rifampicin with isoniazid”orally by stomach tube” daily for the remaining four months}. Group 4 was kept as a control. Fifteen rats from the experimental groups and five rats from group 4 were sacrificed after 2, 4 and 6 months from the beginningof the experiment.
