Abstract:
Bovine mastitis is considered one of the most important disease condition affecting cows which is one of the mainsources of milk in Egypt. That disease leads to great economic losses due to decrease or loss of milk production specially in the chronic cases which lead to fibrosis of the affected udder.I t has been observed that these cases did not respond to the commonly used antibiotic therapy . This observationattracted the attention of the investigators. Milk samples were collected from 230 friesian cowssuffering from clinical mastitis from two different herds in Sharkia Governorate (106 milk samples from the first herd located in Abo -Hamad city and 124 from the second herd located in Fakous city). The incidence of mycoplasma mastitis was 15.09% in thefirst herd and was 6.45% in the second herd. The recovered isolates were identified by growth inhibitiontest and were found to belong to Mycoplasma bovis (100%). Twenty four strains of M. bovis (16 from the first herd and 8 from the second herd) were subjected to examination ofsodiurn dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis .
