Infectious causes of dirrhoea in camel and its control

Abstract:
Clinical examination of 1179 camels revealed that 398 camels (33.75%) were suffered from diarrhoea. 193 diarrhoeic camels (48.49%) were found to be infestedby gastro-intestinal nematodes. They suffered from diarrhoea, weakness, loss of appetite, emaciation, depression, wasting, anemia and some cases severe watery diarrhoea associated with dehydration. Microscopical faecal examination revealed that. Egg per g(68.13%), trichostrongylus spp. (64.28%), chabertia spp(36.26%), ostertagia spp (35.71%) cooperia spp (35.27%), nematodirus spp.(21.09%), trichuris spp (6.91%) and strongyloid spp. (5.82%) . Mixed infections were recorded in 152 camels (78.76%), there were 41 camels infested by one type of parasite (21.24%),42 camels were infested by 2 types (21.76%) , 54 camels were infested by 3 types (27.98%) and 56 camels were infested by 4 types (29.02%) of gastro-intestinal nematodes. The prevalence of diarrhoea due to gastro-intestinal nematodes was in Spring (58.4%)
