Abstract:
A total of200 samples (50 each of market, farm bulk milk and milkpowder) in addition to (25 each of pasteurized and UHT milk) werecollected from different localities in Sharkia governorate.Out of 50 raw market milk samples examined, antibioticresidues were detected in 4 samples (80/0), while out of 50 farm bulkmilk samples examined, antibiotic residues were detected in 3 (6%)using Delvo test - P.Antibiotic residues were detected in 2 samples (4%) of milkpowder samples, while could not be detected in examined pasteurized \milk samples and UHT milk samples using microbiological assaymethod. The withdrawal period of three common preparations ofantibiotics used for dairy animals were studied.Intramuscular injection of enrofloxacin 10% solution into 6lactating buffaloes resulted in presence of their residues in milk for upto 8 days using microbiological assay. While intramuscular injectionof oxytetracycline 5% preparation and ampicillin preparation resultedin presence of their residues in milk for 8 days and 4 days respectivelyusing microbiological assay method. The suggestive precautions for controlling antibiotic residues inmilk are discussed.
