Abstract:
The present work is concerned with the determination of the dynamic stress intensity factors (DSIFs) due to the existence of an interfacial crack in a nonhomogeneous strip. Laplace transform and separation of variables techniques are employed to reduce the problem to a system of triple series equations, then to a singular integral equation of Cauchy type singularity. It is solved numerically, using Gauss-Chebyshev integration formulae, to find the values of SIFs in the domain of Laplace transform. They are inverted numerically to obtain the DSIFs. Further, a parametric study is introduced to investigate the effects of elastic and geometric characteristics of the nonhomogeneous strip on the values of DSIFs.
