Abstract:
The present study aimed to clarify some toxicological effects of the two tested insecticides: lambd-cyhalothrin (apyrethroid compound) and trichlorfon (an organophosphorus compound) in catfish ( Clarias lazera) .Two hundreds and twenty five Nile catfish were obtainedfrom Zagazig City fish market . The weight of the fish wasbetween 120 ± 3 g/individual . The fish were divided into 5 equal groups: the 1st group was considered as control one; the fish in the 2nd and 3rd group were exposed to lambda-cyhalothrin at 1120 & 1140 LC50 ’ respectively and the fish inthe 4th and 5th group were exposed to trichlorfon at 1110 &1/20 LC50 ’ respectively. The experiment was continued for 8weeks (4 weeks exposure and 4 weeks clearance) .Samples of blood, gills, liver, spleen, kidneys and muscleswere collected from all previous groups after 3rd day, 1st, 2nd,3rd and 4th week of exposure period, then after 1st, 2nd, 3rdand 4th week of clearance period. Serum was obtained bycentrifugation of blood , and stored at -20°C till biochemicalanalysis for glucose level, total proteins and its fractions, transaminases (AST & AL T), urea, creatinine and someelectrolytes (calcium, phosphorus, sodium and potassium) .
