Abstract:
This work aimed to study the clinicopathological changes following theuse of a new device (the magnet) on the urethral pressure as a tool fortreatment of stress urinary incontinence in female dogs. A total of 12 clinicallyhealthy female dogs were used as an experimental animal model. Thesedogs were divided into 2 groups, test group or magnetic device treated group(8 dogs) and control group (4 dogs). The effect of treatment by the magneticdevice was detected by measuring different parameters in blood, urine andtissue sections of the urethra in both magnetic device treated group andcontrol group. These include:-1- Biochemical study: Different biochemical parameters were measured insera and urine for both groups. They were, creatinine (mg/dl), sodium- (mmol I dl), potassium (mmol I dl) and total protein (gm/dl).2- Urine culture and analysis study: Urine culture was done aseptically.Different parameters were analysed in urine samples, they were, specificgravity, pH (unit), blood (ug/L haemoglobin) and leukocyte (cells lul).3- Haematological study: Different parameters were measured in bloodto monitor the haematological changes. They were, WBCs (103 /ul), RBCs(106 I ul), Hb (gm/dl), HCT (%), MCV (FI), MCH (pg) and MCHC (gm/dl).4- Blood gases study: Different parameters were measured in blood tomonitor the blood gases changes. They were, pH (unit), p C02 (mm Hg), p02 (mm Hg), S02 (%), HC03 ( m mol/l) and ABE (m mol/l).5- Histopathological study: Using light microscopy, the morphologicalchanges in the urethra were assessed using haematoxylene and eosinstain.
