Abstract:
The importance of natural resources of plant origin nowadys receive agreat deal of concern to scientists allover the worIed.Some plants or their parts are important sources of therapeutic agentsAmong these plants are plant alkaloids e.g. (colchicine and vincristine).Vincristine is a cell cycle specific agent and, in common with otherdrugs such as colchicine block mitosis and produce metaphase arrest.132 albino rats of about 150 gm average weight were used in this work and divided into three main groups A,B and C. Group A of 60 rats each rat received therapeutic dose of colchicine daily via oral rout using intra gastric tube. Then each 10 rats were saGroup B of 60 rats each rat was injected lIP with the therapeutic doseof vincristine once every week. Each 10 rats were sacrificed after the 1 th,2nd, 3rd, 4th , 5th and 6th weeks post injection.Group C (12 rats) was the mean of two control sub group A and B.Colchicine:The erythron mass showed normocytic normochromic anemia after colchicine administration in therapeutic dose at the 4th, 5th, and 6th week
