Abstract:
The effect of adriamycin on some biochemical parameters in male whiteublno rats was investigated. The ameliorating effects of antioxidants (garlicnomogenate and ascorbic acid) administration on some biochemical changesduced by adriamycin was also concerned. For performing the present study 86 male albino rats were used. Theimals were randomly divided into seven experimental groups:lControl (Cont.) group: n= 6Rats of this group injected i.p with normal saline(0.5 ml / animal).-Adriamycin (ADR) group: n=16Rats of this group injected i.p with adriamycin in a cumulative dose of 15g/ kg B.W. divided in 6 injections. Each animal received 2.5 mg / kg B.W. /times a week, every other day (Saturday, Monday andGarlic (G) group: n=8Each rat in this group was orally intubated with 500 mg / kg B. W. garlicmogenate, within 30 minutes of its preparation for 30 days.Ascorbic acid (ASA) group: n=8Rats received ascorbic acid (0.2 %), orally via gastric intubation (10 mg /B.W.) per day for 30 successive days.Adriamycin and Garlic (ADR+ G) group: n=16Rats were administered orally with garlic homogenate (500 mg / kg B.W.)
