Abstract:
Flunixin meglumine is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agentwith analgesic and antipyretic activities.Flunixin meglumine is mainly recommended for reduction ofinflammation and pain associated with musculo-skeletal disorders,being highly effective for most colic cases ..The present study was designed to gain more explicit informationon the possible, if any, adverse effects of Flunixin meglumine on foetaldevelopment in rats.In the present study, three equal groups of pregnant rats, 10 eachwere used. The first group was intramuscularly injected with Flunixinmeglumine; 0.4 mg/kg B.wt. administered as a single daily dose fromthe 6!h day through the 15!h day of gestation. The second group wasintramuscularly injected with Flunixin meglumine; 0.8 mg/kg B.wt. as asingle daily dose from the 6th day through the 15th day of gestation. Thelast group was served as a control.
