In Egypt, sheep pox is one of the most serious contagious diseasescausing high mortality among affected lambs and great economic lossesamong susceptible animals (Sabban 1955, 1957, 1960). Vaccination is the only mean for prevention of sheep pox infection ,(Sharma et al. 1987 and Jadhav et aI., 1989).Both inactivated and live attenuated vaccines with or withoutadjuvants have been reported to confer protection against sheep pox(Anandan et al., 1972; Pandey and Kumar, 1974; Singh et aI., 1984;Jadhav et al., 1989; OIE, 1989; Chandra et al., 1990; Kurchenko et aI.,1991; Rajendran and Kalaimathi 1992; Pal and Soman, 1992; Samir1994; and Agrawal and Soman, 1997).
