Abstract:
The anti-inflammatory drugs (steroidal and non steroidal) arecommenly used and extensively prescribed in both human and veterinaryparactice .The present study was conducted as a trial to throw the light on themost important drug interactions of these anti-inflammatory agents andother commonly used drugs. The obtained results are summarized as follows:A) Effect on isolated smooth muscles:-On smooth muscles diclofenac sodium revealed a dose dependentinhibitory effect on the intestinal motility of isolated rabbit’s duodenumwhich proved to be due to a direct inhibitory activity whereas dexameth-asone produced its dose dependent relaxant effect on the isolated rabbit’sduodenum through a partial antiserotonergic activity and may be due to adirect inhibitory action.Neither diclofenac nor dexamethasone had any efTect on the isolatedguinea pig tracheal smooth muscle. It was proved that both diclofenac anddexamethasone were devoid of any antihistaminic or f3 adrenergicblocking activities.Concerning their effect on isolated aortic strip, diclofenac sodiumand dexamethasone had no effect on this tissue, our results indicates
